Dozens of people celebrated spring, and the basketball season at Sundays first ever March Madness Final Four Miler at the Vestal Rail Trail.
Runners supported their favorite NCAA basketball teams during the race. Afterwards those racing filled out their own March madness brackets and competed in a free throw contest. Organizers say being able to bring the tournament excitement locally is fun for those who can't attend any March Madness games.
"You know, here it is, mid-March. Doesn't feel like it, but a lot of people think it's time for Spring. So it just so happens to tie into the whole basketball tournament as far as the time of year. So we thought we would just tie that whole element in and make it fun for everyone," said mark Muscalla, owner of the Coal House.
The Coal House's next race will be the Run for your Heart 5-k at the end of April. That race will benefit the American Heart Association.
