Town of Union's Flood Buyouts and Demolition

Dozens of homes in the Town of Union heavily damaged in the flood of 2011 are being demolished.

Three dozen properties are coming down, 19 of them on Endwell Street near Oakdale Road in the neighborhood of Westover.

114 properties have been closed at this time with 26 still waiting on paper work.

"We are looking for this area to stay forever green. Some of the areas in Westover we are looking to change the zoning and we bought them under the disaster relief, which is the 10.1 million dollar grant and we are looking to redevelop in some of these areas," said Town of Union Supervisor, Rose Sotak.

Sotak says that she hopes that the 114 properties should all be demolished by the beginning to middle of this summer.
