Fracking Film: "Triple Divide in Tonawanda"
3/5/2014 (Updated 10:48:52 PM)The latest documentary style film, called Triple Divide in Tonawanda, depicts what it says are the negative impacts of fracking in Pennsylvania, and explores how the industry is regulated in the keystone state. Activist Mark Ruffalo provides the film's narration.
"People who are in favor of fracking should realize that while they want to get relatively inexpensive hydrocarbons out of the ground there are short terms gains to be had by pulling them out of the ground and long term poisoning to the planet," said Vestal resident Michael Lurie.
"We quickly realized that the real issue was the DEP the regulatory agencies. People had trusted the state regulatory agencies to do their jobs and come and handle problems and that simply wasn't the case and that wasn't what was happening," said Joshua Privanic, co-director of the film.
The film was shown Wednesday night at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation on Riverside Drive in Binghamton.
