Bringing Students and Businesses Together Through the Click of a Button

Businesses struggle everyday with promoting their product and engaging customers in their advertising, but two BU students may have found a way to help these businesses while giving people what they love: free stuff.

"Students find out where the prizes are by opening up the app, clicking the prize of the day page, and approximately a ten second ad comes up. After the ad is shown, the location of the prize is revealed," Shachar Abraham, one of the app's creators said.

Scott and Shaqar came up with of the idea in October in their dorm room. The app launched last month and already more than 500 people have downloaded it.

"We've actually created a platform that students are going out of their way to engage with. Instead of tuning out or skipping over ads, students are waiting all day to see the ads for businesses so they can find their prize," Scott Wisotsky co-creator of the app, said.

Eight different businesses are currently advertising with Campus Pursuit.

"To me it was a no-brainer to have them look at the app, see my business name and when they find the prize the most important thing is I wanted them to walk in the door," Mike Tulsey, Owner of Zona's said.

One of the freebies Wednesday was a Zona's gift card and it only took ten minutes after the notification went out for the prize to be found.

"I ran over here saw if anyone was sitting under the bar. I didn't want to look weird so then I just peeked under and it was right there," Daniel Smith, Prize of the Day Winner said.

The creators say the most rewarding part of their business adventure is connecting students with all Binghamton has to offer.

"We know that Binghamton has the potential to be one of the best college cities in America and we want to help local businesses here in Binghamton reach out to college students at BU," Abraham said.

Campus pursuit also works with local charities. Just last week they donated .25 cents for every new like their Facebook page received.
