Assembly, Senate Call for Two Year Moratorium on Common Core Testing

The New York State Senate and Assembly are calling for a two year delay in Common Core based testing.
Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo says it's something she supports and that a moratorium will stop the negative effects the current testing is having on students and teachers.
"Some of the high stake consequences affects teacher evaluations and also affects students and how they progress through their grades and how they feel about themselves in terms of their esteem and their test results," said Lupardo.
In his State of the State Address, Governor Cuomo announced he will put together a panel to re-evaluate the roll-out of the curriculum. However, he called the request for a moratorium made by state lawmakers premature.
