Drunk Driver Crashes into Utility Pole, Hundreds Without Power in Vestal
1/1/2014 (Updated 6:41:04 PM)According to Vestal Police, a drunk driver struck a utility pole in Vestal which left hundreds in the Twin Orchards neighborhood powerless Wednesday.
Police say 21-year old Joshua Conklin of Endicott was driving home from a bar in Binghamton when he hit the pole on Vestal Road near Third Avenue just before 5:00am New Year's Day.
Conklin was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and had a blood alcohol content of .13%.
NYSEG spent most of the day restoring power and replacing the heavily damaged pole.
Conklin was released and will appear in court in two weeks.
