Women's Home Back in Business After Lawsuit
12/12/2013 (Updated 6:39:25 PM)A home helping women in the area is back in business after a federal lawsuit against the Town of Vestal.
The Town of Vestal has agreed to pay the Candlehouse Teen Challenge's lawyers $270,000 dollars of legal fees.
The Christian non-profit group sued the town after it prohibited them from utilizing their center on Mirador Drive as a rehab facility.
The jury ruled that the Town of Vestal violated federal anti-discrimination laws.
The center was closed for the past three years but the president says they are back and able to start helping again.
"The kitchen, living room, study halls, education rooms, offices are all ready. Everything is ready so we're ready for seven students right now," Richard Mecklenborg said.
The Candlehouse Teen Challenge helps women seventeen and older recover from drug and alcohol addictions. For more information or to signup for help you can call 607-786-3669.
