Holiday Season Brings More Travel

With the holiday season upon us, many are doing some extra traveling. Local law enforcement wants to remind people how important it is to be safe on the roads.

Officials say drivers must stay alert and avoid distractions. They say be a good judge of the weather conditions and slow down accordingly. Also, be conscious of those around you, because sometimes accidents can be out of your control.

"Everybody just drive safe. Like I said, slow down. Get to your destination safe. If you don't get to your destination safe you're not going to enjoy your holiday weekend, or you're not going to enjoy time with your family," said Sgt. Jason Hopf of State Police, Kirkwood.

Law enforcement will have extra patrols on the road for the rest of the season who are focused on cracking down on distracted driving.
