Shedding Clothes for a Cause

The cold weather didn't stop people at  Binghamton University from lacing up their sneakers and hitting the pavement for a good cause.

The University hosted a 5k today called "Strip for a Cause." The unique run helped raise money for the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County. After every mile students shed a piece of clothing that was then donated to a local vintage boutique.

Organizers say charities especially need the donations this time of year when the weather begins to get colder.

"It's absolutely important. Especially now that it's getting colder and it's around the holidays, we really need to give and it's defiantly important that we're trying to connect the students with the community here and really try and make a difference," said Theresa Ehric, Student Volunteer President at BU.

Clothing donations were also accepted from those who didn't run.
