'Progress' in North Side Projects, say Officials
11/14/2013 (Updated 11:07:19 PM)Binghamton's North Side neighborhood is making progress, according to city officials:
-Progress on projects that are making the area safer, more attractive, and livable.
Part of the approach is to make the neighborhood pedstrian-friendly:
"With transportation in particular, within the next few years, we're making the North Side more walkable, more pedestrian friendly, bicycle friendly. Safer for people to travel through," said Lea Webb, a city council member who represents that district.
Community Development Block Grants are funding several of the projects-- which also depend on volunteer imput.
Street and other infastructure improvements, incentives for housing upgrades, and various youth programs are all underway.
