A local problem gambling expert and educator says the pitfalls of the possible expansion of casino gambling aren't being talked about.
Lesa Densmore of Conklin speaks around the nation on gambling addiction.
She is not against casino gambling but is against Proposition One.
She says the proposition only emphasizes the positives of casino gambling and that more discussion and education on the consequences of gambling need to be part of the debate.
"The promises for more revenue and the promises of increasing of jobs and the promises for money to go into education is in direct proportion to the losses of the people that utilize the casino," said Densmore.
Densmore has worked with casinos and lottery systems of other states to spread her message but says the promise of revenue for New York is keeping Albany from properly addressing the issue.
