Hanna Donating Pay During Shutdown
10/3/2013 (Updated 6:52:15 PM)Republican Congressman Richard Hanna has joined a growing list of federal lawmakers who are forgoing their pay during the government shutdown.
Hanna announced Thursday he will donate his pay during the shutdown to the Wounded Warrior Project and the United Way. He has also co-sponsored the Government Shutdown Fairness Act, which would ensure that members of congress do not take a salary during a government shutdown. One problem with that is that the 27th Amendment restricts any Congress from changing its own pay.
