UPDATE: House Fire in Endicott; Dog Dead Despite Resuscitation Efforts.

Fire Crews responded to a house fire at 304 Adams Avenue, in Endicott, shortly after 10PM Tuesday night.

Responders were attempting for 35 minutes to resuscitate a dog, said to be a Retriever mix.  Crews on scene were making arrangements for the dog to be transported for emergency care with a veterinarian, but according to a responder, the owner of the dog did not want it to be transported, and the dog died at the scene.

No other injuries were reported, and no one was inside the home at the time of the fire, except for the dog.

Village of Endicott Fire Chief Joseph Griswold told Fox40 the fire was put out within 15 minutes of arriving on scene. 

Grisold said the fire was on the second floor of the home, which is an apartment.  The bottom floor is a garage.

According to Griswold, a candle is being investigated as the likely cause of the fire, but is still under investigation.

Griswold said the power had been disconnected at the house, and a generator was used on the bottom floor of the home to supply electricity, but was not on at the time of the fire.

Endicott, Endwell, and Union Center fire companies responded to the scene including Town of Union EMS.
