Local Businesses Raise Money for Sheltered Animals

Two organizations came together in Vestal, Saturday for a "Help the Animals" event.

The Broome County Humane Society and The Animal Care Council held a fundraiser and animal food drive at the Audio Classes parking lot in Vestal. Curcio Printing sponsored the event. People and local businesses were asked to donate items from a wish list that included cat and dog food, cleaning supplies, collars, leashes and monetary donations.

"A lot of the shelters in the area really suffered through the flood and a lot of them need to get back on their feet. We really feel like this is an important way to support them," said Gina Curcio of Curcio Printing.

Several local businesses tabled at the event. Audio Classics sold merchandise at it's table and donated a portion of the proceeds to the organizations.

Shelter dogs and cats were also available for adoption.
