Puello, Muno receive League honors

BINGHAMTON, NY  Binghamton Mets outfielder Cesar Puello has been named the Eastern League June Player of the Month. The Dominican Republic native won the Triple Crown in the month, leading the league in batting average (.441), home runs (8) and RBI (24).

Signed by the New York Mets as a non-drafted free agent in July 2007, Puello is in his first season with the Binghamton Mets. He, along with four teammates, will represent the B-Mets at this years Eastern League All-Star Game.

Puello racked up 11 multiple-hit games during the month and compiled an .897 slugging percentage, the highest in the league by 167 percentage points. Thanks to his efforts, the B-Mets went 19-5 in the month, their best record in June in franchise history.

Infielder Danny Muno has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of July 1-7. Muno hit .417 (10-for-24) during the stretch, belted three home runs and led the league with 12 RBI. He highlighted his week with a career-high seven-RBI effort against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on July 4.

Selected by the New York Mets in the 8th round of the 2011 draft out of Fresno State University, Muno is in his first year at Double-A. The B-Mets starting second baseman has launched seven runs and collected 52 RBI this year. After a slow start, Muno has hit .327 since June 1.
