Binghamton Commerce Career Fair

Finding work in today's economy can be hard, and these local job seekers have been putting forth the effort.

"It's extremely hard I've been out of school for two years now and I've been subbing for two years. Every position I apply for has over 100 applicants," said Cortland County resident, Anne Marie Bagano.

"Coming to this about the only way to get in an application with face to face talk. Otherwise that's the hardest part really is getting someone to call you back now a days," said Broome County resident, Brendon Brancato-Folster.

More than 50 different employers ranging from healthcare, finance, education, and manufacturing met potential future employees at the BCC Ice Center.

"When you're looking for a job sometimes it's really hard to get to the right person tell them about yourself. And here job seekers really have that chance to talk to HR people. The people who are really hiring so they get to make that really good first impression," said Project Coordinator, Debbie Evans.

Also on-site were workshops for helping people prepare for career fairs, helping people know what questions to ask, what to wear, and how to prepare a resume.

"It's wonderful to meet so many different people and explain to them that there is the opportunity for growth in this area," said Corporate Recruiter for NCI, Michelle Witkin.

"It's awesome, you get chances to touch base with different companies that represent the Binghamton and Broome County area," said Broome County resident, Kenneth Butler.
