Those were some of the questions a surrogate of Governor Cuomo answered at Broome Community College Tuesday as she pitched Cuomo's Tax-Free New York proposal. The bill would establish 64 SUNY campuses as tax-free zones for businesses that create new jobs. Deputy Secretary of State Dierdre Scozzafava says a plan like Tax-Free New York would be a necessary jolt for the upstate economy.
Broome County Executive Announces Lung Cancer Diagnosis
Broome County Executive Debbie Preston announced today that she has been diagnosed with lung cancer.
Preston has been in office since 2012.
In a statement, Preston said she has no plans to stop working and that she feels great both physically and mentally.
Preston went on to say, "I've never backed down from a fight in my life. I've won some and I've lost some. But I've certainly won more than I've lost. And this fight against cancer is one that I intend to win."
