Vestal's Greek Festival Continues

VESTAL --  Hundreds came out to get in touch with their inner Greek roots Friday.  It was the 40th annual Greek Festival. There were plenty of drinks and freshly-made treats, gyros, and baklava. But it was more than a day of entertainment: it was a show of support for a local church.

"It is an exhilarating experience to have fellowship in the community, people from all backgrounds and walks of life coming and enjoying our Greek-American hospitality," said Pastor Michael Bahlatzis of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation.

After filling up on hearty meals, the crowd got up on their feet for some dancing.  And local troupes showed off their moves.
Visitors say the festival is a family tradition--something they look forward to all year.

"We've been coming here for three years now.  We just love the food, and good atmosphere, lots of family.  They have these honey puffs.  They're really good," said Lisa Grande of Endicott.

The honey puffs were the biggest hit of the day.  Thousands were sold, raising hundreds of dollars for the church.

You can join in on the fun again all weekend, at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Vestal.
