Pesky B-Sens eek out another one
3/23/2013 (Updated 10:57:15 PM)BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators hosted the Hamilton Bulldogs tonight at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena for the first time since Jan. 24, 2009. Coming off a 5-2 win against the Albany Devils at home last night, the B-Sens maintained their steady rhythm and defeat the Bulldogs 4-2. While the win was their second in as many nights, it also marks their third straight.
The first period the teams remained equal ground, as neither was able to get on the scoreboard. B-Sens starting netminder Nathan Lawson and the Bulldogs Dustin Tokarski remained perfect on nine and seven shots respectively.
Wacey Hamilton kicked off the scoring 6:19 into the second after tipping one into the Bulldogs net. The Bulldogs responded to tie the game at one as Frederic St. Denis tallied at the 13:42 mark.
Binghamton would gain the lead just 1:47 into the third courtesy of Mark Stone. Hamilton however would tie the game once again after Greg Pateryn put one between the legs of Lawson on a power play. Stephane Da Costa put the B-Sens back in front, 3-2, with a power play tally of his own at the 14:31 mark. Stone added some insurance in the final minute of play, hitting an empty Bulldogs net with just 22 seconds remaining in regulation.
Mike Hoffman and Chris Wideman assisted on Stones first goal of the game and Da Costas game winner, each walking away with two points.
Lawson earned his ninth win of the season after making a total of 27 saves on 29 shots. Tokarski took the loss stopping 20 of 23 shots faced.
