Broome County legislature and Sheriff announce resolution opposing NY S.A.F.E. Act

Members of the Broome County legislature joined Broome County sheriff David Harder to announce a resolution opposing the New York Safe Act,the state's latest gun control law.

The legislators are criticizing how the law was passed, saying it was rushed through the state legislature. One of the provisions of the law is changing the maximum number of bullets in a magazine from 10 to 7, something some in law enforcement find hard to accept.

"Well we're not complying with the law no. We're hoping the governor will wake up or somebody up their in Albany will wake up and change it so we don't have these problems in the future. It's a slow process to wake Albany up," said Broome County Sheriff, David Harder.

In a response to the law, the New York State Sheriff's association says it does not believe changing the maximum number of rounds in a magazine from 10 to seven will not make communities safer.
