B-Sens start March with a win

HAMILTON, O.N. -- The Binghamton Senators travelled to Ontario to face the Hamilton Bulldogs tonight at the Copps Colliseum. The B-Sens kicked off a three game Canadian road trip by snapping a two-game losing streak as they edged the Bulldogs with a 3-2 win.

The B-Sens fired first as Cole Schneider scored his eighth goal of the season on the power play courtesy of Shane Price and Chris Wideman at 3:12 in the first. Corey Cowick, after missing the last three games due to an injury, tallied Binghamtons second goal at 8:47 of the same period. Mark Borowiecki and Jean-Gabriel Pageau each drew the assists. The Bulldogs rallied back at 11:04 as Joey Tenute put Hamilton within one with the help of Jarred Tinordi and Patrick Holland.

Pageau got the B-Sens off to a quick start in the second, netting a goal just 34 seconds into the period with Cowick and Dustin Gazley combining for the assists. Hamilton would strike back again as Louis LeBlanc slapped one past B-Sens goaltender Nathan Lawson with Mike Blunden and Nathan Beaulieu drawing the assists at 13:55.

Hamilton pulled goaltender Robert Mayer with 2:11 remaining in third in hopes of scoring the equalizer. Although they acquired the man advantage, they were unable to score and tie the game.

Binghamton ended the night 1-for-3 on the power play, while Hamilton was 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

Lawson started in goal for the B-Sens, stopping 28 of 30 shots to win four of his last five decisions. Mayer tended goal for the Bulldogs making 27 saves on 30 shots.

The B-Sens return to action tomorrow as they continue their three game road trip when they visit the Toronto Marlies at 3 p.m.
