Attorney Announces Candidacy for Tioga County District Attorney

A local attorney hopes to be elected Tioga County's District Attorney in this fall's election.

With the Tioga County Sheriff by his side, Kirk Martin announced his candidacy on Wednesday. The republican has practiced criminal law for 14 years and served as an Assistant District Attorney.

We asked him about how he would handle a third Cal Harris murder trial, and how the case might effect the race.

"I'm not going to comment on current cases and I would review the case load at the time that I took office," said Kirk Martin, running for District Attorney.

Martin is running to fill the seat vacated by Gerald Keen--who previously prosecuted the Cal Harris case, through two murder trials, and who is now  Tioga County Judge.

Martin is the only person to have officially announced his candidacy for District Attorney. .
