B-Sens downed by Ice Caps

ST. JOHNS, NFLD.  The Binghamton Senators kicked off a weekend of back-to-back games against the St. Johns IceCaps tonight at the Mile One Centre.  Eric ODell scored a pair of goals, including the game winner to lead the IceCaps to the 4-2 victory over the visiting B-Sens.

The teams traded goals in the first period.  ODell opened the scoring just 2:20 into the first, capitalizing on an early power play to put St. Johns on the board 1-0.  Kael Mouillierat and Carl Klingberg drew the assists.  Jean-Gabriel Pageau would then be credited with Binghamtons first goal at the 16:20 mark to send the teams to the locker rooms for first intermission tied at one.

The second period was all St. Johns.  The IceCaps outshot the B-Sens 15 to 3 in the middle frame, potting a pair of goals in the process to claim a 3-1 lead.  Kevin Clark scored exactly two minutes into the second to break the tie, with assists going to Ben Chiarot and Jason Gregoire.  ODells second of the night came at 17:02 courtesy of Mouillierat and Clark.

The B-Sens pulled within one at 8:27 of the third as Shane Prince put away a rebound on a power play to make it a 3-2 hockey game.  Hugh Jessiman and Stephane Da Costa assisted on the play.  Mouillierat ultimately put the game out of reach at 16:06, scoring a goal to earn his third point in the game.  Derek Meech and Klingberg drew the assists.

Robin Lehner started in goal for the B-Sens stopping 30 of the 34 shots he faced.  Eddie Pasquale tended goal for the IceCaps stopping 21 of 23.

The B-Sens have another crack at the IceCaps tomorrow night in St. Johns.  Game time is 6 p.m. eastern.
