Purse Snatchers Behind Bars
1/12/2013 (Updated 10:27:07 PM)
Broome County Sheriff's Office officials say 30-year-old James Theobald and 23-year-old Adam Esposito were both charged with five counts of grand larcaney after they tried to make off with a woman's purse.
It happened around 1:15 this afternoon at the Weis Supermarket on Upper Front St.
Two officers were shopping in the store at the time of the incident and saw one of the men running out the front door carrying the purse and tackled him down. Meanwhile, a bystander located the other man in a vehicle attempting to flee the scene and held him until patrol officers could take him into custody.
Police say both men are being held without bail. They were both released recently from the Susquehanna County Jail from charges stemming from thefts.
