It's become a local tradition and the thirteenth annual Jim "Mudcat" Grant all star golf tournament is just under two months away.

This year the event will benefit local veterans as well as the Boys and Girls Club, CHOW, and several other local charities. Grant is a former major league baseball player who first organized the tournament. He and other so-called black aces.

African-American pitchers who have won at least 20 games in a season, are expected to take part in the tournament.

"I'm playing in the tournament with (Security Mutual CEO) Bruce (Boyea) 15 years ago and for some reason, we became friends and Bruce said to me 'I think God put us together to actually do something,' so to be able to do this in Binghamton, going back to my time in 1956, is a wonderful thing. You can't beat that," said Grant

The golf tournament tees off on August 28th at the Links at Hiawatha Landing.
