Stations of the Cross Remind Faithful of their own Crosses to Bear
4/18/2014 (Updated 11:03:31 PM)For Christians, before the celebraton of Easter, comes the solemn observance of Good Friday--
And in churches around the Tier, the faithful gathered, to recall the suffering of Christ.
There were the Stations of the Cross-- showing what Christians believe were the painful steps Jesus took along the way to his crucifixion.
At St Vincent de Paul, in Vestal, those who came said the lesson of that anguish endures to this day-- telling us theat the Stations reminded them that we all have crosses to bear, and the suffering of Christ made is easier for them to carry their own burdens:
" If you think about it in your own life don't you have a lot of crosses that you have to put here? That's pretty much what Christ was doing."
said Jim Crowley, a deacon at the church.
"Its important to be reminded that someone went through this life before us and suffered and had a lot of hard times and that gives all of us courage to keep on trying," said Santa Barbara, Broome County resident
Good Friday is followed by Holy Saturday, and then, Easter Sunday.
