ACA: Remembering Another Tragedy

While the community is dealing with one tragedy, it is remembering another.
Thursday marked the fifth anniversary of the shooting at the American Civic Association which left 13 people dead.

Family and friends of the victims gathered at the ACA Thursday.

Although the anniversary brings sadness, those who attended also talked of a strength and bonding that grew out of the tragedy.

"We have three grandchildren and it would have been so nice to pass this spirit, this dynamic thing that you can go out and change and you can help," said Lubomyr Zobniw the husband of one of the slain victims, Maria Zobniw.

"I think it brings some comfort and reassurance to see each other. These are people that we didn't know five years ago so over the past five years we've become friends and it's nice to see a familiar face and who's going through the same thing," said Oresta Lisowsky the daughter of Maria Zobniw.

The ACA Memorial Park at the corner of Clinton and Front streets,  will be formally dedicated this Saturday.
