So You Want To Run For Political Office?

As kids, many people have dreams of someday becoming president. Today, students and resident locals learned exactly what it takes to be in office.

SUNY Broome held it's bi-annual, "So you want to Run for Political Office and Make a Difference" day today.

Dozens attended the event and heard from current mayors and congressmen about the importance of politics and being active in the community.

"First of all to understand that democracy is hard work. If you're going to be a public  servant, on their best day, that is what any elected official is. They need to listen to all of the voices of the people they will represent," said Doug Garnar, Professor of History at SUNY Broome.

Those who attended  were given booklets and training worksheets to learn more about potential political races that may be in their future.
