Libous, Lupardo say B.U. Pharmacy School Funding Will Be Restored

It looks as though Binghamton University will get the $10 million it needs to get its pharmacy school off the ground...

The governor proposed the money for the project, but the state assembly only included $2 million for the school in its budget. However, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo feels that figure will be bumped to $10 million--as does State Senator Tom Libous--once the final budget is approved.

"I expect to be successful. I talked to the governor this morning about it, as a matter of fact. We're still on track to move forward with the $10 million and obviously funding they need in the future," said Libous.

"The Assembly just had $2 million in it while we were getting some questions answered. Te Assembly was not initially involved in this phase of the project. but we're catching up. we should be fine," said Lupardo.

Lupardo also feels the Assembly will include money in the budget to help SUNY Broome turn the vacant Carnegie Library in downtown Dinghamton into a culinary school.
