Cold Weather Hasn't Stopped Owego-Apalachin Construction

The fill has been laid well above the flood plain and the superintendent of the Owego-Apalachin School District says construction of the new elementary school is on schedule.

The school was destroyed in the flood of 2011. In November, voters approved a referendum to fund construction of a new school.

At Thursday's board of education meeting, Dr. Bill Russell said they are currently in the process of removing soil to install parking lots and over 300 feet of foundation will have been poured by next week.  He says the cold weather hasn't slowed down construction.  The goal is to bring students back into the building in the fall of 2015.
