Fracking Not on 2014 DEC Agenda

Agriculture and the environment was the topic of conversation at Wednesday's budget discussions in Albany.

Assemblyman Clifford Crouch says the Department of Conservation  Commissioner Joe Martens had allocating funds for forest management and invasive species on his 2014 agenda.  However, he says there are no plans to issue fracking permits in 2014.

"That tells us it's pretty much not going to happen so obviously we are kicking the can down the road on this as far as what it could mean for economic development but we are still going to pressure the government to make a decision," said Assemblyman Clifford Crouch.

The transportation budget is on Thursday's agenda. Crouch says he expects legislators to pass a budget on time for the third year in a row.  The deadline is April first.
