Local Umpires Learn Drills from the Best

Well it's not baseball season yet, but some umpires practiced their best "You're out!", "Strike!", and "Foul!" voices Saturday.

That's because it was the second annual New York State Umpires Association clinic. Umpires from New York, Pennsylvania, and even Virginia attended. They learned drills from college, minor league, and even major league umpires.

The clinic included drills and stations to improve skills. Members say learning from these umpires was a huge honor.

"They've been very approachable. They've shared their experience in order to make the take away for our attendees to be extremely positive. So there's been a lot of social interaction, a lot of excellent training that's been here and we think it's a great foundation for our 3rd annual to be in 2015," said Eric Olsen, umpire of nysua.

Umpires will be reporting to spring training sometime next month to get ready for the season. The New York State Umpire Association plans to hold another clinic like this one next year.
