Buza's Christmasland Lighting the Neighborhood with Joy for a Good Cause

This year was the Buza family's 30th year putting on their elaborate Christmas light display called Buza's Christmasland.

"We started off very humbly with basically a string of lights and a Santa Claus, and it's just grown every year," said Mark Buza.

Decades later, and the Buza home is one of the brightest on the block on Lower Stella Ireland Road in Binghamton.  From the front lawn, the side, and the back, classic holiday characters and twinkling lights draw hundreds every year.

"It seems like every year he has something a little bit difference, tweaks it ever year," said Endwell resident Eddie Kolanda who has visited the Christmas land every year for the last three years.

The whole family puts in about 100 hours total creating the holiday scene, starting two weeks before Thanksgiving.

"You just kind of wake up the weekend before or two weekends before Thanksgiving and you do it.  It's in your blood.  It's something we've been doing for a long time, and as long as we're able to do it, we'll continue to do it," said Buza.

For the last eight years, the Buza's have been doing their Christmas display for different charities.  This year, the family is collecting food for CHOW, clothing for St. Jame's Youth Group, and monetary donations for Catholic Charities.

On Tuesday, Christmas Eve, Santa Claus will be at the Buza's to hear children's last minute Christmas wish and to take pictures.  All are welcomed, and there is no charge.

The address is 285 Lower Stella Ireland Road, Binghamton, NY.
