Fiala Supports Turkey Drive

Friday is the last day to donate to the Catholic Charities Turkey Drive at the RV parked outside of Walmart in Vestal.

As a final push DMV Commissioner and former Broome County Executive, Barbara Fiala visited the RV and DJs Matt and Lori Friday morning. She donated a turkey and encouraged others to give.

Fiala visits the RV every year. This year she comes as Governor Cuomo encourages his employees to give back during holiday season.

"We have to as a community come together to make sure everyone has to do their part so that no one goes hungry. No one should go hungry, a child or an adult," she said.

"There have been several people that have come up to us this year alone that said, 'this was me last year. I'm back on my feet and I want to donate.' And it's been amazing," DJ Lori from 103.3  said.

As of Friday afternoon they had more than 3,000 turkeys. Tioga Downs donated $3,000 and with that money organizers say they'll be able to reach their goal of 4,000. The RV will be parked outside of Walmart accepting donations until midnight.
