Conklin Veterans Memorial Unveiled

Local veterans were honored Saturday at a dedication ceremony for The Conklin Veterans Memorial outside of Floyd Maines Community Center in Conklin.

Monuments in honor of soldiers who fought in several wars were unveiled with the veterans names engraved on them.  The project was started in 2006, and one of the key  contributors,  a veteran himself, was happy to finally see the memorial complete.

"These younger generation, today, don't know exactly what all those fellows went through that are on these monuments. And that's what we're trying to get across, it'll be here for them to recognize," said veteran Robert Page.

Page has been a veteran for twenty years. He served in Vietnam, the Cold War, Korea, and World War II.
