French Exchange Students Get a Government Lesson at Binghamton City Hall

Exchange students from Castres, France spent their morning at Binghamton City Hall meeting with Matthew Ryan.

The students are in Binghamton as part of an exchange program between their school and Chenango Valley High School that's been on-going for 20 years.

Both the French and CV students got a lesson in local government from Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan, and asked questions about national and local politics.

Cline Bec from France said a big difference between France and the United States is how patriotic Americans are.

"You have the American Flag everywhere.  We do not have this in France.  I think it's a great thing. It's a small community that's united about your flag, and your country is quite good," said Bec.

After a question and answer session with Ryan, they got a tour of the Binghamton Fire Station.

The CV students are planning a visit to the French school next April.
