The Effect a U.S. Military Intervention Would Have on Binghamton

Binghamton Justice Projects and Students for Social Justice at Binghamton University held a discussion on what effect would a United States military intervention in Syria have on binghamton.

Professor Kelvin Santiago Valles spoke on the background and regional context of U.S. military intervention in Syria.

Valles said the effects of a war overseas would no doubt be felt here in the Southern Tier.

"(It means) more budget cuts, less money for schools, less money for housing, less money for jobs, programs and stuff like that, less money for student aid," said Valles.

Students also presented on surveillance technologies in the Middle East and Binghamton.

One student said wars become laboratories for new surveillance technology.
