End of Summer And End of Carousel Rides

The end of summer also means the last chance to ride the areas famous historic carousels.

Parents and children from all over the Southern Tier made the trip to the 80 year old carousel at George W. Johnson park in Endicott Sunday for their last ride of the summer. The carousel has been bringing the community together for years, as well as visitors from all over the United States.

Dan Bertoni, a park attendant there said it's nice to see everyone come together.

"It brings a lot of people together, its a significant part of our community because it's kind of a big thing in this area," he said. "A lot of people see it as something special. Not every place has as many carousels as we do."
Children who ride all six county carousels receive a memorial  button. Although it was the last day to ride for the summer, the carousel reopens for a week during Christmas as well.
