Fans Get Look at Upgrades

What do the fans think of the $2.5 million renovations to the Veterans Memorial Arena.

Fans who came out to see Disney Junior Live Monday night got a chance to see what changes were made over the summer.  New concession stands, LED lights and rennovations to the stairs outside the stadium are just some of the improvements.  The majority of fans agreed there was one change they will enjoy the most.

"Well there's new seating which is really nice.  It just seems to be much brighter," said Dina Boreffi of Endicott.

"The seats, especially when you first sit down, they are a lot better than what they were," Susan Korell of Binghamton.

"The next phase is to put up a state-of-the-art sided video score board and upgrade our video system here in the arena as well as maybe the sound system," said Anthony Capozzi, arena manager."

Before the hockey season starts, new glass and dasher boards will be installed.  Capozzi says the new LED lights will reduce shadows on the ice creating a better experience for players and save tax payers some cash. Those new lights are expected to save  $600,000 in energy costs over the next 10 years.
