Vaccine Advice for Tart of School.

With the school season right around the corner making sure your young children are vaccinated is important, but officials say that having your older children vaccinated can be equally as important.

Marianne Yourdon of the Broome County Health Department says that most children get get their school-required vaccines before entering kindergarten.

That includes the  "T-DAP" vaccine  to protect against tetanus, diphtheria , and whooping cough.

Yourdan says parents wary of getting their children vaccinated should talk with their doctors.

"These diseases are still circulating at low levels among the community and if we don't keep up as a whole, as a community if we don't keep our vaccination rates up, we could see a resurgence of any of these diseases," said Marianne Yourdon.

Mild side effects of vaccines include soreness or redness where the shot was given.
