B-Mets reflect on successful first half of 2013

BINGHAMTON -- The B-Mets are surging, boasting an Eastern League-best 53-33 record. Despite their first series loss in two months heading into this week's All Star Break, Binghamton finished the first half of the season strong.

That said, it wasn't always easy.

Early on, its a lot of ups and downs," said Manager Pedro Lopez.

The biggest of those downs? Being no-hit in the franchises 3000th game on May 9.

Something happened after that no-hitter. When we got no-hit, we talked to the guys about making in-game adjustments, added the skipper.

And the rest is first-half history.

Everybodys really clicking right now, said starting pitcher Logan Verrett about the teams success.

One of the main factors to the teams recent hot play is the offense and defenses support of each other.

Were getting excellent performances out of our pitchers. Theyre keeping us in the game and as of late weve had very timely hitting, offered first baseman Allan Dykstra.

The players are confident in what the second half will bring.

Dykstra says, Were just working great together as a team and thats all you can really ask for.

We lost five games in the whole month of June. Hopefully we can keep that going, said Logan Verrett.
