Volunteers Clean up Schorr Family Firehouse Stage

JOHNSON CITY -- Volunteers help spruce up a community gem Saturday.

A group came out to clean up the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage.  They scraped windows, painted the outside of the theatre, and did some trash pick-up and weeding.  The labor took all day, but volunteers say the work is well worth it.

"Keeping the arts alive in the community is very important.  The creative aspect is something that needs to be held onto and encouraged.  And that's part of what the coming Academy is going to do," said Volunteer Coordinator Danielle Gapske.

The Goodwill Theatre recently opened up for tours, and further rehabilitation will continue.
