Town of Union Working with Less

Some help but not as much for the Town of Union from the federal government.

The draft of the federal fiscal year for October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2014 has been released. The town expects to receive almost $1.2 million dollars in new Community Development Block Grant funding.  That number is over 24 percent less than the previous four budget cycles.

Despite lower federal funding, Town Supervisor Rose Sotak says the money will help various projects, including after school programs, seniors, parks, and road construction.

"Overall, we're still accomplishing, we still have a budget, and we're spending wisely, which is the key to it," said Town Supervisor Rose Sotak.
The town board invites the public to discuss the draft on July 17th.  They will vote on the plan August 7th.
