Police: Saturday incident now homicide

BINGHAMTON -- Binghamton police are now calling an incident that occurred on Stone Street over the weekend a homicide investigation.

On Saturday, the Binghamton police and the crime scene unit could be seen taking video and pictures of the residence at 11 Stone Street.  Police say Bretnie "Sha" Owens, 44, was found dead in his apartment.

Neighbors remember him as a good neighbor and are now worried about their safety.

"He was just good all around, a good guy, neighbor," said Ramona Cash who lives on Stone Street.  "You know, everyone speaks, small talk, things like that and he didn't bother nobody, so, it's messed up.  I'm scared, I'm really scared.  It's a quiet block, a good neighborhood, and who can you trust?"

Police say an autopsy has been conducted and the matter is being investigated as a homicide.  Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 772-7080.
