Working To Increase Energy Efficiency
6/12/2013 (Updated 11:26:33 PM)It's been six months since the Broome County Executive announced the opening of the Office of Energy Development.
On Wednesday, director Margaret Scarinzi spoke with the Environmental Management Council about some of the programs and initiatives they've started.
Scarinzi says they are investigating ways to reduce high pollution energy options and increase energy efficiency.
"We are hoping to look for projects within the County that we can make steps towards energy improvement--be able to point to savings and hopefully be able to point toward incentives or rebates we've gotten as a result of those improvements to show the tax payers we are doing our best to use their money wisely and save tax payer money," said Margaret Scarinzi, director of the Broome County Office of Energy Development.
Scarinzi maintains this is not a fracking office. If the moratorium on fracking is lifted she says the office will be used to provide accurate information about natural gas drilling to residents and businesses.
