Local Volunteers Help Rebuild Local Homes

VESTAL -- Local volunteers help revamp the home of an elderly Vestal woman.

The Rebuilding Together network teamed up with members of First Niagra Bank to paint the walls of a severely weathered house on Martha Road.  The work lasted all of Saturday.  The group has made it their mission to repair homes for military veterans, the elderly, the disabled, and low-income families.

"We've seen over the years a lot of companies support the community.  And we want to make sure people know we're a strong community partner as well.  So we hope everyone joins in and does something similar.  First Niagra's mantra is doing great things and this shows we definitely support the community," said Lawrence Harris, Vice President of FIrst Niagra Bank.

Over the past 15 years, the organization has helped over 68 homeowners throughout Broome County, and over 100,000 homes nationwide.
