Poll: Assembly Speaker Silver Should Resign

The majority of New Yorkers want Sheldon Silver out as Assembly Speaker...
And one local member of the Assembly agrees.

A new poll from Quinnipiac University found 51 percent of New Yorkers want to see Silver resign.

This comes after the speaker has been under fire for his handling of sexual harassment claims against former assemblyman Vito Lopez.

According to the poll, 58 percent of New Yorkers would not allow their daughter to be an assembly intern. Republican Cliff Crouch says it's time for Silver to go:

"I think there should be a change. He's been there a long time. Obviously with what's happened he feels he can do anything he wants to. I've commented he should step down. He's lost the confidence of the people of the state as leader of the Assembly," said Crouch.
The Qunnipiac poll also found Governor Cuomo's approval rating has dropped to 53 percent, down from 57 percent in April.
