Impact Project Provides Woman With New Home

A woman who lived in what officials say were dangerous conditions for years, received her new home on Wednesday.

Irma McGowan, a lifetime resident of the Town of Greene, had her old trailer replaced with a refurbished one by workers from the Impact Project.

McGowan's trailer was a 10 by 55 and from the 1960's. It had a leaky roof, and water pipes, the floor was collapsing.  It had no hot water and only two outlets in the whole trailer.

She was more than thrilled to see her new home.

"I just thank and praise the Lord because I never dreamed I'd get rid of that clunky old thing.  And the Lord has blessed me beyond repair here, I mean this is gorgeous," said Irma McGowan the recipient of a new trailer home.

Project Impact is a non-profit organization that makes home repairs on low income homes in both Broome and Chenango County. This is their 55th project.
