OFA Places High in Odyssey of the Mind

OWEGO -- It was a triumphal return for a group of local high school students-- internationally recognized for their creative problem-solving.

A team from Owego Free Academy took sixth place in the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals Competition May 25th in Michigan. They beat out over 800 teams.  Each presented their original solutions to given problems--  such as putting on a play with specific requirements. The students from Owego tried to imitate a silent movie-- and they said their play stood out for skillful expressions of thought without the use of any words.

"We were inspired by Charlie Chaplin films we had been watching over the summer.  And people were into it," said Martha Wolfe, a junior at Owego High School.

The team says they are eager to put their skills to the test again next year.
