Millions of Dollars Could be on the way to Help Flood Ravaged Towns

Millions in grants could be on the way to the Binghamton area as Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the creation of Community Reconstruction Zone Programs.

It will help areas affected by Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene, or Tropical Storm Lee.

Binghamton is eligible for up to $3-million, while Conklin, Town of Union, Vestal, and Johnson City are eligible for almost $5.5-million.

Margaretville and Sidney are also eligible for up to $3-million, while Nichols and Owego are eligible for up to $4.4-million.

The planning process is expected to take eight months and grant applications will need to meet certain criteria before being approved.
